Hiking in Finland is a major nature activity loved by locals and tourists because Finnish forests are a true joy to explore. Fish & Fun Holiday Village stands on the border of two regions: Etelä-Savo and Päijät-Häme, and the third big region Kymenlaakso starts in 20 minuter drive from the Village. The location of the Village gives opportunity to visit hiking trails and national parks of all three regions. Check them out!

Here are some of our favourite trails:

Pirunkirkko or The Devil’s Church is a massive negatively sloping rock formation shaped like a giant lava. From the parking lot to the Devil’s Church, there is a 2.2 km trail. The path follows the cliffs so we don’t recommend the place to very low-footed people - it is a good route, but in some places there is a steep drop down and wooden ladders.

Our most beloved round trail is Heisanharju ridge area. It is very easy and pleasant to hike on the ridges among small ponds and bigger lakes. There are two grill kotas to take a rest and grill some sausages. The forest is full of flowers and bushes of Labrador Tea and Bog bilberry. Also while hiking there is a great chance to see wild beavers and different birds.

There are plenty of grilling areas on the route and on the way back there is a hand operated “Fox ferry"
